Lotus L. Kang

Installation & Photography

Lotus L. Kang is a Canadian-Korean artist based in New York whose multidisciplinary practice includes sculpture, installation, drawing, and photography. Kang's work explores the permeability of the body and the concept of "becoming," investigating how we exist in constant states of transformation and flux.

Kang often works with light-sensitive materials, particularly film, to create site-responsive installations that respond to their environments in real time. These ephemeral works capture the passage of time and the subtle changes in light and atmosphere, creating poetic meditations on presence, absence, and change.

Her innovative approach to photography and installation has earned her recognition in the contemporary art world. Kang's work is particularly relevant in our current moment, as it speaks to questions of identity, migration, and the hybrid nature of contemporary experience, all explored through a uniquely material and process-based practice.
